MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (Oct. 18, 2014) – Different track, same result for Josh Berry and the No. 88 Speedco late model team as they earned their 10th win of the season Saturday night at Myrtle Beach Speedway. For the 23-year-old Hickory Motor Speedway track champion, the victory coincided with his first visit to the South Carolina short track where team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. raced 20 years ago.

Knowing the track is notorious for tire wear due to an abrasive surface, Berry practiced patience early on, sliding back a few spots from his fifth-place starting position. Just past the midway point of the 100-lap race, the No. 88 made its climb up the leaderboard.

Berry crept his way through the field and took command of the race as he stormed to the lead with 15 laps remaining. From there, the No. 88 was forced to fend off challengers on a late-race restart. The competition proved to be no match as Berry cruised to the victory, earning an automatic bid into the Myrtle Beach 400 on Nov. 22.

Josh Berry, driver No. 88 Speedco team
“I just did my best to use my experience from Hickory to save my tires and position myself for the end. We felt like the race would get strung out and have a lot of green flag racing so we knew that we needed to stay near the front to keep our track position. This was my first time at Myrtle Beach so that makes it pretty special. We locked ourselves into the (Myrtle Beach) 400 here in November, so I am really excited to come back next month.”
