Track Specs: .375-mile oval / 250-lap feature
Berry’s start/finish: 1st/1st
Josh Berry kept the good times rolling at Orange County Speedway (OCS) on Saturday night, starting from the pole and winning the CARS LMSC Tour Summertime Showdown 250 on the .375-mile oval.
A week earlier, Berry took his Speedco Chevrolet to OCS to race in the Late Model feature as a way to dial in for the CARS event, and it worked. He rallied from deep in the field to win the 75-lap main. On Saturday, he started from the pole and ended up in Victory Lane.
Berry took the pole in qualifying, and started the race with a ton of momentum. He lost the lead on the first lap to Jamey Caudill and had to settle for second for the next 15 laps. Using the outside lane that had worked so well for him the week before, Berry made the pass on lap 16 and held the top spot the rest of the way.
While Berry held the lead over the remaining laps, he had to work hard to keep it. A flurry of caution flags forced Berry to constantly defend his position, which was important because the leader controls the restart positioning.
Over the last 15 laps or so, Berry was locked in a duel with Deac McCaskill for the lead, and he held on to win his second CARS LMSC Tour event of the season by a single car-length. Berry and the Speedco Chevrolet are two-for-two in CARS action so far this season.
Berry returns to action next Saturday at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway.

"I'm really proud of all our guys for working so hard this weekend. This series is really competitive, so to be able to get two wins in our first two starts is impressive. It really turned into a long race with a lot of cautions, so I just had to keep focus and get good restarts to keep the lead. The outside groove seemed to really work for us, so it was real important to stay out front to have lane control for the restarts. I feel like racing at OCS last weekend really helped me learn the track, and I was able to use it to my advantage in the CARS race."
