MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 17, 2018) – Josh Berry will make his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut this weekend at Salem Speedway, driving the No. 22 Big Tine Ford for Chad Bryant Racing. The 27-year-old driver from Hendersonville, Tenn. currently drives for JR Motorsports, the race team owned by 15-time NASCAR Most Popular Driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.
“It’s an interesting place,” said Berry. “It’s wild, definitely a challenge and will be a tough place to race. Tire management is going to be key there, and that might benefit me in that I do that every week in my Late Model with the CARS Tour. It’s a great opportunity for me to try the ARCA Racing Series, which has always been very competitive. I’m looking forward to the weekend with Chad and the rest of the CBR team.”
Currently racing in the southern-based CARS Response Energy Late Model Stock Car Tour, where he is the all-time leading winner, Berry has made seven NASCAR Xfinity Series starts in his career with a pair of top-10 finishes, at Richmond Int'l Raceway and Iowa Speedway. He’s also driven in NASCAR’s Camping World Truck and NASCAR K&N Pro Series events. Over the past five seasons, Berry has won 48 Late Model races between CARS and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
Team owner Bryant, the crew chief for the team before purchasing it from owners Briggs Cunningham and Kerry Scherer, is a long-time friend of Berry and of JRM’s Director of Motorsports, champion Modified driver L.W. Miller. Berry recently completed a test in the car on the high-banked half-mile Salem oval.
“Josh brings a ton of experience to our team this weekend, and has an excellent chance to do very well," said Bryant. "I’ve known Josh for quite some time and am glad to finally have the opportunity to put him one of our cars with a sponsor that has meant a lot to our team in Big Tine. I can’t wait for the green flag on Sunday.”
Big Tine, based in Rockville, Indiana, produces feed, supplements and attractants for the white-tail deer hunting community. The company has been involved with Chad Bryant Racing before and with great success as driver Chase Briscoe won six times in ARCA Racing Series competition on the way to the 2016 national championship.
The Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200 is live on MAVTV at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22. Look for live timing, scoring and chat at arcaracing.com.
